Good condition. Red pictorial cloth, gilt. Edges olive green. Grey endpapers. 12 b/w plates plus 1 map and 7 battle-field plans. 384 pages + 32 pages booklist.
Spine is faded with bumping; a few small tears with fraying to cloth. Corners are bumped and worn; some fraying to cloth. Marks to covers. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Foxing and marks throughout. All plates present. One plate by page 326 has been reinserted, had margin tear an creasing with frayed edges. A few other plates have corner creases. Couple of hinges are pulled.
