- An unusual excitement ran through the brumby herd when their stallion, Winganna, returned with three mares. One, a sad and beautiful creature, had with her a very young filly foal. The tiny foal was soon to be orphaned. Almost by accident, this little filly, Ilinga, was fostered by a mare whose colt foal, Wurring, nearly a yearling, brought the weak, hungry foal with him when the herd moved on. A story about the dramatic world of the wild horses of the Australian bush.
