Almost very good condition in a good dustwrapper. Blue covers, gilt title to spine. B/w frontis illus. 231 pages.

Spine bumped, a couple of small marks to top edge of front cover. Foxing to textblock and endpapers. Dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped with slight loss, tear to lower 2" of spine. Tape reinforcements on verso of dustwrapper lower edge.

  • Ruey Richardson and her brothers Roger and Roddy are wards of Joey and Jack Maynard. She enters the Chalet School which she finds life very different from that in Croydon. She introduces lacrosse to the Chalet School but finds a ready-made enemy in Francie Wilford.
  • Francie had hoped that she and Margot Maynard would become friends but Margot is not keen. Francie, whose character is warped by her home circumstances lets her jealousy of Ruey poison her school life. The two are at daggers drawn most of the term but eventually a break through is made and they become firm friends.
