Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Blue covers, gilt title to spine. B/w frontis illus. 231 pages.

Spine slightly bumped. Some slight damp staining to lower edge of front cover. Heavy foxing to endpapers and first few and last few pages, damp stain to edge of rear free-endpaper. Dustwrapper is slightly edge worn with a couple of small tears and slight surface paper damage to base of spine (o. 4 missing of No. 44).

  • Ruey Richardson and her brothers Roger and Roddy are wards of Joey and Jack Maynard. She enters the Chalet School which she finds life very different from that in Croydon. She introduces lacrosse to the Chalet School but finds a ready-made enemy in Francie Wilford.
  • Francie had hoped that she and Margot Maynard would become friends but Margot is not keen. Francie, whose character is warped by her home circumstances lets her jealousy of Ruey poison her school life. The two are at daggers drawn most of the term but eventually a break through is made and they become firm friends.
