The author's aim here is to explain and illustrate the common interest of Italian painters between 1460 and 1500 in the clothes they painted and, here and there, to comment on their choice of particular garments for the clothing of particular characters. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w diagrams and illustrations.
Boards clean and bright. Large bookplate to front pastedown. Includes SIGNED letter. Green top edge faded to gutter edge. Pictorial dustwrapper is faded to spine and rubbed at top & tail of spine.
