The violence and grotesqueries have been toned down conveying instead a wealth of humour and charm throughout. 12 beautiful tipped-in colour plates plus 43 b/w drawings. Large format. Green cloth, gilt titles and vignette. Pictorial endpapers and title page. 250 pages.
Spine, corners and board edges bumped. Spine browned. Some marks to covers. Inscription in ink to front pastedown. Browning to endpapers tissue guards and some pages internally. Some foxing mainly to page edges and a little fingering otherwise contents are clean. Corner creases to six plates, the others are fine. Tissue guards are loose and creased.
