Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. An intensive piece of social history showing that until the eve of the First World War, tradesmen, clergy and manufacturers, as well as land-owners, farmers and agricultural labourers, were held in bondage to the soil. Green cloth boards, red title block with gilt title to spine. B/w photos and illustrations.
Boards nice and bright. Inscription in ink to free front endpaper. Text block browned. Foxing to prelims and endpapers. Pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn with chips to corners, faded to spine and scuffed.
