  • Set in a school in Naples, run by English ladies exclusively for British and American girls. Irene makes the most of her opportunities, both in school and on many expeditions. She soon forms friendships and is elected a member of a secret 'sorority' which triumphs radiantly over a rival clique. Amongst the variety of girls who are Irene's schoolfellows, is one less fortunate, whom she is able to help.
