Good condition. With illustrative essays by popular writers. Edited by Albert Smith. Three-quarters blue leather binding, blue cloth boards. Gilt title and raised bands to spine. Marbled endpapers. B/w plates designed and drawn on wood by Gavarni and engraved by Henry Vizetelly. Marbling to text block. Some plates have corner creases and small closed tears to margins. A few grubby marks to contents which are tightly bound (except for front joint).
Ex-library with usual markings. Leather spine & corners rubbed & worn with surface loss. Gilt title can no longer be seen on spine. Top of spine worn and frayed. Front joint broken so that front cover is detached. All plates present. A few scattered foxspots. Marbling to text block fading.
