Numerous memorable illustrations including 13 colour plates. Contains several self-caricatures of Rackham, including him in the guise of the 'new master' who gives the black boy a 'good scrubbing', and the man who catches a flea! Available in two separate trade editions, this is the green cloth binding with gilt titles and decorations. Green/white pictorial endpapers. 223 pages. 8 x 6". Introduction by G.K. Chesterton. New translation by Jones. Spine bumped, worn and slightly darkened. Wear to corners and bump to lower front corner. Front joint cracked. plus a couple of hinges cracked but binding still tight. Grubby fingermarks, mainly to lower margins and mostly in first half of book. A few fox spots to contents. Rear endpapers grubby with some foxing. All plates present.

The De Luxe limited edition of 250 copies. Cream pictorial cloth with gilt titles. Large format. 12 wonderful tipped-in colour plates mounted on brown paper with captioned tissue-guards plus b/w text illustrations. 209 numbered pages, top edge gilt and others untrimmed. Burgundy silk page marker. SIGNED by the publishers, this is copy no. 148. Spine and corners very slightly bumped. Foxing to endpapers and textblock. Dustwrapper is edge worn with loss to top and tail of spine and tears which have been tape repaired on verso the wrapper is also lightly browned and foxed. An exceptionally nice copy of this scarce edition made even more desirable by the original dustwrapper being present. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

Green cloth spine. Colour pictorial boards showing fox in a bucket. 24 colour plates. Sunshine Series. A little bumping and wear to spine, corners and cover edges. Rear cover ever so slightly grubby. Dated ink inscription to front endpaper. A couple of hinges cracked. Light browning to endpapers. Some foxing, mainly to prelims and page edges. All plates present. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped with some loss to top of spine and front panel. Spine browned and slightly faded. Rear panel a little grubby. Some foxing.

Ink inscription to front endpaper. Contents clean just very lightly browned. Foxing to text block. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn and creased with tears to either end of spine and fold. Label partially removed from top corner of front panel causing surface paper damage.

Spine worn with some loss of surface from rear cover alongside. Contents pulled so feel a little loose. A few marks to margins otherwise contents clean.

Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. 13 superb colour plates mounted on heavy brown paper with lettered tissue-guards. 53 drawings, 19 full-page. 223 pages. 11.5 x 9". SIGNED by Rackham. This is copy no. 511. Spine and corners bumped. Unfortunately the cloth is grubby, damp stains to rear edges which show through on the pastedown. The front free-endpaper has been removed and a label has been removed from the pastedown. There is light damp staining to page edges. All plates present and in fine condition although some of the tissue-guards are lightly browned. There is a little bit of foxing but not much. A reasonable copy of a scarce book.
