Welcome to the June 2019 newsletter from Stella and Rose's Books. The aim of our newsletter is to keep you informed of new information, articles and books available on our website.

It has been an exciting month for us so far! Thankfully we were able to avert disaster with the help of the local Fire Brigade. An unused light fitting decided to spontaneously combust setting off the smoke detector alarm! We are thrilled to learn that the smoke detectors actually work. All stock escaped unscathed and it's business as usual here.
Tintern Fete is happening Saturday 29th June and promises to be a good one... don't forget to visit us in the heart of the village also.
Please note that the A466 between Chepstow and Tintern is currently closed but we are very much open as is the rest of Tintern. There are diversions in place from Chepstow, access from Monmouth is open as normal.

One of the most popular sections within Stella Books is the one that contains our collection of Folio Society editions, and when you look at the rows of handsome slipcased volumes it is not hard to see why this is the case. The London based publishing company was founded by Charles Ede in 1947 with the aim to produce “editions of the world's great literature, in a format worthy of the content, at a price within the reach of everyman.” When you hold a Folio Society edition in your hands there can surely be little doubt that they have successfully fulfilled their ambition “to create books that are unique in their aesthetic and in their quality.” Read more... |

The title of this book may seem off putting, but when this sumptuous leather bound book with gilt titles and vignette is opened, a stunning work is revealed. This edition was published in 1989 and was limited to just 1250 copies. The copy we have in stock at the time of writing is number 1112 and is signed by the publisher John F.
