Welcome to the February newsletter from Stella and Rose's Books. The aim of our newsletter is to keep you informed on a monthly basis of new information, articles and books available on our website. We hope you enjoy it.

We use them everyday - to build things, buy things, gamble and grow. Yet we use numbers without thinking about how peculiar they are.

We first learnt to count by saying:
'3 apples and 2 apples makes 5 apples' and we could check this by actually taking physical apples and grouping them.

And then we advanced to:
'3 apples plus 2 apples equals 5 apples'. But can you remember at what point you made the huge leap and forgot about apples and instead said:

The Boo-Boos? What kind of weird characters does the name Boo-Boos conjure up in your mind? If I didn't know what the Boo-Boos were, I guess I would say that they were some kind of nasty monsters that come out from under the bed at night time! BUT I'd be wrong!

The Boo-Boos are the creation of Mabel Lucie Attwell. They are a cheery, chubby, not at all scary, group of 'do-gooding' elves or pixies, dressed in green suits and led by a crown-wearing king.

Rose's Books on Priceless Antiques 18th February 2010
Rose's Books are to be featured in an upcoming episode of the popular Priceless Antiques Roadshow. The episode is due to be aired this coming Thursday evening - 18th of February at 6.30pm on BBC2 in the UK.

Dick Francis dies, aged 89
The bestselling thriller writer Dick Francis, has died at the age of 89, on 14th of February in the Cayman Islands, where he spent his later years.

Finally on a personal note this will be my last newsletter as I have decided to leave Stella Books. Adam will be taking over production of the newsletter and Theresa will be looking after the shop at Stella Books.
