A country school, entirely of seniors, is suddenly invaded by five juniors, of 12 years old or less, accepted by the headmistress for various reasons. Green boards with red titles to spine. 240 pages. EX-LIB with remains of labels to front endpapers and library stamp to verso of title-page. Front joint between half title-page and title-page is cracked. Heavy foxing to textblock and some grubby marks to page margins. Spine and corners bumped, a few tiny dents to lower cover edges. Small faded patch to centre of spine. Dustwrapper is grubby to rear panel, foxed on verso and has a small hole to front spine edge.

Inscription in ink and name and date in ink to front free-endpaper (which has had the very top corner tip neatly removed). Contents clean. Dustwrapper is edge worn with slight chipping and tears. Small hole to spine.

Small patch of surface paper damage to top edge of front cover, slight damp staining to front cover. Frontis is MISSING from this copy. There are some small red ink stamps (can't read what they say) scattered to the first few pages. The contents are very browned but otherwise clean.

Covers a bit grubby. Front free-endpaper has been removed, causing slight damage to inner margin of pastedown. Small brown spots affect pages 41 to 48. Some hinges cracked but binding still tight.
