The Jennings Report

Back to Jennings Information Page

It may seem surprising that a maths project which was meant to survey the habits of television viewers should end up by reporting the habits of hibernating hedgehogs. But to Jennings, the change of plan seemed not only logical but a fitting climax to the hair-raising crises that had gone before.
Mr. Wilkins' refusal to provide winter quarters for wild creatures of the hedgerows sparked off a series of frustrating situations. Things were bad enough when a local naturalist arrived unexpectedly and his presence had to be concealed from the school authorities; but even worse complications ensued when a visiting doctor declined to masquerade as a piano-tuner.
Then there were the problems caused by Miss Thorpe's unruly dog, Jason; by the misunderstaning over Aunt Angela's week-end plans, and by Jennings' desperate attempt to wash his overcoat at the launderette. Indeed, there were so many setbacks that it is a wonder that the Jennings report ever saw the light of day...
