by D. Alexander Brown

Nearly fine condition in a very good dustwrapper. Facsimile. A day-by-day account of the raid in the American Civil War: the long gruelling marches; the consternation of the Confederate commanders, whose intelligence reports were thrown off time and again by Grierson's bluffs and the tricks of his advance scouts, the "Butternut Guerillas"; the daring attack on the Vicksburg railroad; the tatterdemalion parade into Baton Rouge, with 300 fleeing slaves happily bringing up the rear... Red cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations.
