Very good condition in a good dustwrapper. The letters are written by a countryman to a younger friend abroad and they describe the routine of country life throughout the year. A tranquil book designed for casual reading, with superb b/w illustrations perfectly in keeping with the subject and the mood. Green boards. Green endpapers are maps. 281pp. 8.5 x 5.5". Cheap edition.
Spine and corners bumped. Small, neat name in ink to top edge of half-title. Light page browning and a small, light stain to edge of textblock. 2nd issue price-cut wrapper (illus Atkinson) is lightly foxed with a couple of small splash marks to spine, edge worn and tape repairs on verso.
